Employers in South Australia will soon benefit from the DAMA that will be offered under the Subclass 482 Visa. The introduction of 2 Designated Area Migration Agreements is pending in the State. The details of the DAMA are currently being finalized by the Government of South Australia with the Home Affairs Department.
The DAMAs will
permit employers in South Australia to sponsor
overseas workers for skilled positions. This is if they are unable to fill
them with domestic workers. These will also offer access to extra occupations
and concession to the standard immigration program.
DAMAs in South
Australia will make use of labour agreement stream under Temporary Skill Shortage Subclass 482 Visa. Businesses will have to
sign an agreement with the Government of Australia. They will then be offered
the Subclass 482 Visa.

Adelaide:
It focuses on
high-tech growth industries in Adelaide that includes Advanced Manufacturing,
Technology, and Defence Space industries.
Regional Workforce Agreement South Australia:
It focuses on
regional high growth industries in South Australia, as quoted by the SBS. These
include Mining, Construction, Tourism& Hospitality, Health & Social
Services, Forestry, and Agribusiness.
The major aims
of the Designated Area Migration Agreements of South Australia are to offer:
- Australia PR pathways to Visa
holders in most listed occupations - Diverse
occupations reflecting semi-skilled and skilled shortages in the State without
caveats for application - Concessions
in the English language for select occupations - Concessions in salary for appropriate occupations that reflect market
rates in South Australia. This is to ensure that conditions of employment and
workers terms are not eroded. - Increase in
age limit for select occupations
