Australia Skilled Migration Program
Currently, Australia is completely open to migration, especially for the offshore candidate. Few of the states sponsored applicants with certain conditions like having occupation listed in the critical skill list and staying onshore.
Now that the time has arrived for the states to open their skill migration program for FY 2022-23 for onshore and offshore candidates. Yet few states still have to update on accepting the applications and their criteria.
Currently, Australia has a huge requirement for skilled migrants, hence this is the right time to apply for it. Based on the updates, the applicants are advised to complete the skill assessment instantly and to obtain the mandated English proficiency scores to be qualified for the sponsorship.

Following are the states that are currently open for offshore applications.
Victoria
For the modern program year, Victoria is open for both onshore and offshore candidates for subclass visas like 190 & 491.
Eligibility criteria earlier:
All the professions that are on the relevant DHA occupation list are qualified and the applicant need not possess STEMM skills or work experience in the destination sector.
This step provides you an opportunity to send the candidates to Australia whose profession is listed in the DHA list. (Accounting, Engineering, IT, Trades Profiles).
A candidate needs to qualify for the following criteria:
- Must be less than 45 years of age
- Need to possess an occupation on the DHA list of occupation
- Must ensure to stay living in Victoria
- Need to score 65 points at least.
- Must possess competitive English scores.
Previously, Victoria state used to permit nominations from only onshore (working or staying) candidates in Victoria.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
ACT has accepted the nominations for the FY 2022-23. For the same year, 2720 allocations that are superior to the allocated quota for FY 2021-22, which was 2000 places only.

Recently, ACT updated its occupation list by adding many occupations and some of them are removed.
Update Eligibility criteria for overseas candidates
For Subclass 491, 3 years of post-graduate experience in the nominated profession to be eligible.
Subclass 190, needs a job offer of 2 years to be eligible.

Australia to step up visa processing of skilled workers
Queensland
Queensland is opened its migration program for the year 2022-23 for both offshore & onshore (Subclass 491 & Subclass 190) effective from August 16, 2022.
Previously, this state was welcoming nominations from onshore candidates but not for offshore applicants. Queensland recently announced a list of occupations and provides an opportunity for IT, Engineering, and Trades profiles.
The candidate must have to score 80 points or more for subclass 190 & 65 or higher points for subclass 491.
Must have a job profile that is listed on the Queensland occupational list, and possess a mandate or more scores. Along with this, the candidate must possess a minimum of 3 years of post-study work experience.

Tasmania
The Tasmania state got the provincial allocation for FY 2022-23. A total of 3350 quotas are received.
Currently, Tasmania is not open for offshore or onshore applicants, it will open phases in the coming weeks.
The following table depicts the allocation for each state for the FY 2022-23. The topmost allocation is received by Victoria State, New South Wales (NSW), Western Australia (WA), and Queensland (QLD).
