A huge number of applications were issued by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada this January, which set a record. An exact 4,449 Invitations to Apply (ITA) were issued the Express Entry scheme. The previous record was set in March last year when 3,257 ITAs were issued. January 2016’s record is the highest total for any month, since the Express Entry selection system for immigration to Canada was launched.
Another highlight was that January 2016 was the first month during which three draws took place
- On 6th January - a total of 1,463 ITAs were issued to candidates
- On 13th January - a total of 1,518 ITAs were issued
- On 28th January - a total of 1,468 ITAs were issued
Surprisingly, each of the three draws had included applicants without a provincial nomination or qualifying work offer. A provincial nomination or a qualifying work offer results in hopefuls acquiring extra points and also ITAs at a subsequent draw from the competitor's pool. Be that as it may, applicants who are granted a critical number of points in view of skills transferability necessities alone might be issued a welcome without acquiring provincial nomination or an occupation offer.
What will the rest of 2016 hold for overseas immigrants?
An IRCC Policy Analyst, on the 16th of December last year, made some authoritative comments with respect to the short and medium term fate of Express Entry, expressing that the quantity of invites issued per round is relied upon to rise as the pre Express Entry stock of utilizations is concluded. Thus, it is normal that the base score of those that are welcome to apply will drop. While January's outcomes appear to bolster the expectation that the quantity of ITAs will build, it remains to be checked whether this pattern will proceed and whether a drop in the compulsory base score will take after.
