Minimum hourly pay of Canada
Canada increases its minimum hourly pay by 7 percent, $1.10. The change was made to match the continuous increase in the cost of living. As per Employment and Social Development Canada, the minimum hourly pay will increase to $16.65 from April 1, 2023. In 2022, the Consumer Price Index also rose by 6.8%.
Minimum hourly pay of provinces across Canada
The federal minimum wage rate is applied to postal and courier services workers, banks, interprovincial air, rail, road, and marine transportation, and other federally regulated private sectors. Employers must pay their workers either the federal minimum wage or the minimum wage in their province/territory of operation, whichever is lower.
