In 2022, IRCC set an all-time record by processing close to 5 million (4.8 million) Canada visa applications. This number is almost double the number IRCC reached in 2021.
With this achievement, Canada is on track to achieve and even exceed its immigration levels plan for 2022 of 431,000 new permanent residents. With this possibility in sight, you must have more confidence in the sheer number of opportunities for immigration Canada will generate for you in 2023.

Between April 2022 and November 2022, 251,000 new citizenship applications were approved, and new Canadian citizens were added to the Canadian population.

How IRCC achieved it
In 2022, IRCC had a hard task at hand to deal with processing a large number of applications for various visas in Canada. The voluminous task was handled with some very wise steps taken that increased its efficiency.
A major step was to digitize the application process for Canada immigration and citizenship in Canada. Another step that helped IRCC achieve this record number of applications being processed was the decision to recruit 1,250 new staff in 2022.

Right now, IRCC aims to process 80 percent of visa applications within service standards. This will be done across all lines of business in Canada. This means that the standard time for processing various types of Canadian visas will be maintained without fail.
