If you are traveling to Canada, you need to get the full course of approved COVID - 19 vaccine 14 days before entering Canada.
As per the report on September 7, 2021, Canada has re-opened its borders to fully vaccinated tourists.
But the travelers need to get the full course of vaccination with the Canada-approved vaccine.
List of Canada-approved vaccines
Travelers need to get two doses of any of the following list of Canada-approved vaccines. These include:
- Pfizer vaccine
- Moderna vaccine
- AstraZeneca vaccine
- Janssen vaccine (one dose)
Whereas the other vaccines are not accepted as per the Canadian government policies.
Apart from this, the tourists need to receive their last dosage before 14 days they travel to Canada.
From August 9, 2021, Canada started allowing fully vaccinated American citizens and Canadian PRs (permanent residents) to enter Canada. Later it slowly opened its borders for fully vaccinated individuals.
Take a quick look before you travel to Canada
Travelers entering Canada need to submit all their documents related to their travel information in 'ArriveCAN', which is a mobile and web application.
The travelers also need to produce the pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test result or PCR result, even if they are fully vaccinated.
Travelers might be selected randomly to conduct a COVID-19 test upon entry to Canada. The travelers also need to show proof of their vaccination and should not have any symptoms related to COVID-19.
Additionally, travelers to Canada will be exempted from quarantine measures if they meet specific criteria. But it is better to prepare for a quarantine plan because sometimes the border officer determines that they do not meet these requirements.
While the kids under 12 years of age will be allowed to enter Canada without any vaccination, they don't need to follow any quarantine measures if their parents or guardians or people accompanying them are fully vaccinated.
Unvaccinated travelers are not allowed to enter Canada. The individuals who are allowed to enter Canada include:
- Temporary workers
- International students
- Diplomats and
- other individuals who are traveling for an essential reason.
But these travelers need to undergo a quarantine period of 14 days upon arrival if they are not fully vaccinated.
Which airports are open in Canada?
The travelers also need to have detailed information about international flights that can only arrive at nine Canadian airports, etc. Here is the list of Canadian airports that allows travelers:
- Toronto Pearson International Airport
- Montreal-Trudeau International Airport
- Vancouver International Airport
- Calgary International Airport
- Halifax Stanfield International Airport
- Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport
- Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport
- Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport
- Edmonton International Airport
Important information
Direct flights from few countries like India are not allowed till September 21, 2021, whereas flights from Morocco will be banned until at least September 29
Travelers from India or Morocco need to stop at a third country. Then they need to get a negative COVID-19 test before continuing to Canada. The COVID-19 test should be done within 72 hours before the departure of the final flight to Canada.
