IELTS come out with two new tests for UK immigration applicants

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has come out with two new tests for UK immigration applicants.

A UK government-approved SELT (Secure English Language Test), IELTS for UKVI (United Kingdom Visas & Immigration) includes prescribed administrative requirements that UKVI has set. By using the UKVI number placed on the test report form, caseworkers identify results of the test online.

The IELTS Life Skills test was devised by the UK government for people applying as dependents of UK citizens or settled persons; and for indefinite leave to remain or citizenship.

Applicants need to select the test of their choice while applying on the IELTS website. They must be careful while selecting the appropriate test as the wrong choice could backfire.

People who need to satisfy English language needs for visa applications fall under three categories. They need to be applying for Tier 1 (Entrepreneur), Tier 2 or Tier 4 as per the points-based system; as dependents (above ages of 18) of UK citizens or settled persons; and for indefinite leave to remain and citizenship applicants. B-1 level test results are applicable for applicants for indefinite leave, provided it is on the present list of approved test providers and had been accepted by UKVI for an earlier immigration application.

It is advised that all Indian candidates refer to recent list of approved SELTs before they book for an English language test online.
