Budget 2023 on the Canadian immigration system
Canada has released its budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24. The budget 2023 has committed an investment of $55 million towards the Canadian immigration system, which will be in addition to the $4.5 billion spending plans of the IRCC for 2023-24.
- $14.6 million will be used over five years in amortization for IRCC and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to implement biometrics to help expedite citizenship applications.
- $50.8 million will be used over four years for travelers from low-risk countries to expand their eligibility for the Electronic Travel Authorization Program.
- $171.4 million over three years will be invested to extend the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel.
- $123.2 million will be invested to boost Francophone immigration in Canada to recruit more French-speaking foreign workers outside Quebec.
