There are three popular immigration programs under Canada skilled immigration to help skilled workers to migrate to Canada.
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Skilled workers in various occupations can submit their profiles to the FSTP and wait for an ITA for PR visa. The government of Canada releases a list of skilled trades that are facing a shortage of labor on a regular basis. Based on this list international workers and those on a temporary work permit can apply in the FSTP.
The list of skilled trades is based on Canada’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) list.
Federal Skilled Worker (Express Entry)
This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently and meet all the minimum requirements on age, education, work experience, and language ability- English/French. The current pass mark is 67 points.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade. Candidates must meet the required language test with, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the skilled trade, have a valid Job Offer for one year or certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.
The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have one year of Canadian work experience in the recent 3 years.
