India - China Visa On Arrival

India and China will soon roll out Visa-on-Arrival facility for each other as early as May this year.  The Economic Times reported that Indian passport holders could soon be among the ones who enjoy Visa-on-Arrival to China. Countries that currently enjoys VoA facility to China include Singapore, Brunei and Japan on arrival in Beijing or Shanghai.

The move will see a new beginning in India-China relationship which hasn't been really great in the past 6 decades. VoA will come as an excellent boost to tourism departments of both the countries. While 6.8 million Indians visited China last year, only 1.75 lakh visited India.

India is finalizing a new list of countries to offer VoA and China is most likely to be in it. So during Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to China in May, the neighbor is expected to reciprocate the move and offer VoA to Indian tourists.

The visas will be for tourists travelling for leisure and also those travelling for business trips, meetings and to attend conferences and events. The Economic Times further reported a government official who said that key ministers and security agencies have had many internal meetings in the last 2 months and have discussed offering VoA to Chinese tourists.
