Indonesia has eased Work Visa application process for ONG –Oil and Natural Gas firms that plan to hire overseas workers with immediate effect. They will now no longer be required the Request for Approval to Hire Foreign Workers or RPTKA. The letters of recommendation for Work Permit or IMTA from the Oil and Gas Directorate General will also not be needed.
The eased Work Visa application process for ONG –Oil and Natural Gas firms now facilitate them to directly apply for Work Permit with the Manpower Ministry. The changes will have a crucial impact on the Work Visa application processing times for the ONG sector, as quoted by the Jakarta Post.
The contactors of ONG which plan to hire overseas workers for more than 6 months through the Long-term Work permit for 12 months will now not be required to adhere to the requirements for documents outlined in the ESDM 31- 2013 Regulation. The standard document requirements will have to be complied with. Apart from them, the below-mentioned documents will also be needed for applying for a Long-term Work Visa application:
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in ONG demonstrated by a letter of reference
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- A local counterpart employee as an Indonesian Labor Companion for transfer of technology and knowledge
- Agreement for the project contract
It is not yet affirmed if an SKK MIGAS recommendation is needed for Partnership Contract Firms. The recommendation or approval from DG MIGAS for working in the ONG sector will not be needed by companies Sub-contractor used by ONG firms. This is applicable for both renewals of Work permits and for new work permits.
