Highlights for extension and expansion of RNIP

  • IRCC announced the extension of the RNIP program

RNIP extended and expanded for Thunder Bay and other regional communities

Thunder Bay and other regional communities are thrilled as IRCC announced the extension and expansion of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program. The economic development commission has already given recommendation to 175 candidates to apply for Canada PR and it has plans to meet the target of 250 recommended candidates to get the Canada PR visa.

Improvements in RNIP

Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has announced several improvements for the RNIP which are listed below:

  • Geographic boundaries of seven communities will be extended and these communities are:
    • North Bay
    • Sudbury
    • Timmins
    • Thunder Bay
    • Moose Jaw
    • West Kootenay
    • Vernon
    • The range of job offers will be expanded to fulfill the job market needs in the trades and healthcare sectors
  • Communities will be allowed to participate for a longer period till August 2024
  • Community partners will be helped to provide support to the employers and candidates
  • Amount of settlement funds will be reduced
  • The integrity of the program will be strengthened

1,130 newcomers settled in 11 communities through RNIP

IRCC also expanded the boundaries of the community to provide help to remote employers to access the program. This will help in the economic development and growth of the smaller communities all over the country.

In the first six months of 2022, 1,130 candidates settled in 11 communities through RNIP. The program can invite 2,750 candidates per year.
