Highlights: Canada visit visa holders can now apply for work permit with a valid job offer

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), if any foreign national gets a job offer in Canada, they can apply for and receive a work permit. This rule is an extension of the COVID-19-era temporary public policy, which expired recently.
Eligibility criteria for the Temporary Public Policy
Applicants who are looking for getting benefitted from the Temporary Public Policy must comply with the following conditions:
- The candidate must have a valid Canada visit visa.
- They must have a job offer approved by LMIA or an LMIA exemption.
- The applicant must submit an employer-specific work permit before February 28, 2025.
- The candidate must have met all other standard admissibility criteria.
People who held a valid work permit in the last twelve months but currently own a visitor status in Canada will have to follow special instructions to get work authorization.
