It is this time of the year that H-1B visas become a matter of debate. Companies to reserve a berth for suitable candidate(s) in the limited quota of 65,000, prepare files well in advance and send it to the USCIS on the opening day of H-1B quota. Usually, it is the 1st of April each year.
The lucky ones get shortlisted in the lottery system and move to the US after getting the visa stamped. On arrival, the H-1B visa holders work in various places across the country - from New York to Los Angeles, Boston to Chicago, they go every almost every place. But having said that, there are some metros that take the major share of these H-1B visa holders.
According to a report published by Brookings Institute, New York has the most number of foreign workers on H-1B visa. Dallas and San Jose are next only to New York. The report highlights US metropolitan areas that received the highest number of approvals in 2013.
New York received almost 11.4% of total approvals followed by Dallas and San Jose with 7.7% and 6.2% respectively. While Washington took only 5.8% and Chicago 5.6%, Other cities across the US shared the remaining approval percentage.
