No, OET does not provide a universal test. OET assignments are specific to certain work-related environments, as they target only the following 12 professions: Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Podiatry, Speech Pathology, Veterinary Science, and Radiography.
If you do not work in one of the 12 listed professions mentioned above, you may take the OET test for a profession that is similar to yours. For example, we know that sonography registrants took the OET Radiography test and orthotics registrants the OET Physiotherapy test. You need to go through the available sample tests to get a clue about each profession’s test subject matter. Choose your profession to view sample tests.
Before registering for OET, we do suggest you consult the suitable supervisory authorities to verify if these authorities will admit your OET results as evidence of your English language capability and also find out which profession-specific test of OET would be ideal for you.
