The former judicial figures of Britain find that the country’s reaction to the migrant crisis was highly inadequate. Such a reaction they say will only take the migrants towards the smugglers. It is not only the opinion of some judges but, as many as 300 people which include, legal experts, working lawyers and retired judges. They believe that the number of people they have chosen to help is less.

Britain plans to help not more than 20,000 Syrian refugees in the next five years. In addition to this, it has also been said that it is important to find a safer route that will take the refugees safely from the uncertainty of war stricken Syria to the European Union. Although the country’s judiciary does not usually criticize its politicians, this situation is an exception.

Stronger disapproval for this issue

The difference in this case is the fact that it received the disapproval of top legal figures that include the names of   Lord Nicholas Phillips, former President of Britain's Supreme Court, and Nicholas Bratza, ex-President of the European Court of Human Rights. Despite knowing that it is their duty to provide protection to refugees, most countries of the European Union including Britain have not done what they are supposed to.

This has been observed when it was found that they were limiting the access of refugees to their rights, by implementing many obstacles in the form of travel restrictions for them to enter the countries of the European Union. Britain is looking at helping the most vulnerable refugees of Syria to provide them with shelter and protection, while giving them an opportunity to resettle.

Double trouble for UK

Britain is facing his issue at a time when its major concern is the reforms in its own immigration policy. It is also going to effect Britain’s membership in the European Union by the year 2017.
