US eases travel advisory for India

The United States has eased the travel advisory for India, from lowering the highest level 4 to preceding level 3, which reconsiders citizens to travel.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has issued a Level 3 travel Notice for India because of the COVID-19 situation. This indicates a high level of COVID-19 in India.

"Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC's specific recommendations for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers," CDC said.

On May 5, 2021, the travel advisory has placed India in level 4, which is replaced by Level 3 in the present scenario.

During May 2021, India is battling with the second wave reporting 3,00,000 new COVID cases per day. This resulted in the shortage of oxygen supplies and beds in the hospitals. In July 2021, the COVID cases were under control, and hence the CDC has replaced India with Level 3 from Level 4. Indian students, green card holders, and individuals with H1B visas are permitted to enter the U.S. with few travel restrictions based on the traveler's vaccination status.
