Singapore Yellow fever vaccine

The Singapore High Commission has issued a new rule that will require travelers to the country to get their yellow fever vaccination.

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne infection.  The disease is present in Africa, Central and South America. Transmission between humans is through mosquitoes.

The vaccination is required prior to travelling to Singapore. However, it is required only if the tourist is from the following countries or had travelled to these below mentioned countries in the past 10 days.

Benin Ethiopia Niger
Burkina Faso Gabon Nigeria
Burundi Gambia Senegal
Cameroon Ghana Sierra Leone
Central African Republic Guinea South Sudan
Chad Guinea-Bissau Sudan
Congo Kenya Togo
Cote d’lvoire Liberia Uganda
Democratic Republic of the Congo Mali  

Latin America

Argentina French Guiana Peru
Bolivia Guyana Suriname
Brazil Panama Trinidad and Tobago
Colombia Paraguay Venezuela
Ecuador    

Travelers should get their vaccination at least 10 days before their date of travel to Singapore. Those who refuse to get their vaccination will be quarantined for up to six days upon arrival in the country.

However, the vaccine is not required for individuals who have not travelled to the above-mentioned countries in past 10 days.
