The Training and Research Visa Subclass 402 facilitates an international individual to live in Australia for a short term for the purpose of research, training, or professional development of ideas. The maximum validity of the Training and Research Visa is 2 years.

STREAMS OF SUBCLASS 402 VISA
The Training and Research Visa has 3 streams:
- Occupational Trainee stream: It is aimed at people who require organize workplace-based training to improve their skills in their present occupation, field of expertise, or area of tertiary study.
- Professional Development stream: It is aimed at professionals, government officials, or managers invited to participate in a training program for professional development in Australia. The program should be authorized by the employer out of Australia and is valid for 18 months.
- Research stream: It is aimed at academics who are invited to visit Australia, and participate in or observe an Australian research project at a research institution in Australia.
HOW TO APPLY FOR SUBCLASS 402 VISA?

To apply for the Research or Occupational Trainee stream, the candidate or anyone mentioned in the application can be in or out of Australia when they apply:
- Applying from Australia: If the candidate is in Australia, they must submit their application in Australia.
- Applying from outside Australia: If the candidate is out of Australia, they can submit their application out of Australia.
The candidate can be in Australia or out of the country at the time of issuance, irrespective of where the visa was submitted.
- Professional Development stream
