  1. Arts & Science

In the B.Arts Sc. Honors program candidates pursue specifically formulated ARTSSCI courses and electives. Candidates choose their electives and pursue a Combined Honors Program. Students can choose from 30 electives to focus on a specific minor subject. The set of courses, offered to Arts & Science students, consists of Inquiry courses, which cover a broad range of fields and emphasize on the formulation of problem-based education and skills for critical thinking.

Electives, hands-on learning experience, and student exchange facilitate candidates to find a new path. Study and thesis in the 4th year offer an opportunity to collaborate with McMaster researchers. The course prepares the candidate for various scenarios in the future.

  1. Chemical & Physical Sciences Gateway

The Level I Chemical and Physical Sciences Gateway study program offers the candidate a wide range of options for the Level II program.

The candidates pursue their Level II program further from the same field of study as their subject in the Level I program or select something else.  After the 1st year, the candidates can apply for a maximum of 4 Level II programs.

Candidates of Chemical and Physical Sciences Gateway experience stimulating lectures. Chemistry and Physics have an engaging lab experience with advanced facilities, interactive lectures, and dynamic study content.

  1. Computer Science

The Computer Science Honors program is a direct-entry course of 4 years where candidates learn software design, programming, systems, and theoretical knowledge. In 5 theoretical and practice courses, the focus of the course is on laboratory-based and discovery, including coverage of topics like tuning and profiling, and topics such as compilers and operating systems.

  1. Economics I

The Bachelor’s program in Economics studies the allocation of resources to competing uses. The areas of focus comprise health care, international trade and finance, public expenditure, and taxation.

The faculty teaching the course is nationally and internationally recognized and receives acclaimed research grants and published in reputed journals.

It works with 3 research centers. They are:

  • McDSL or McMaster Decision Science Laboratory
  • PEDAL or Public Economics Data Analysis Laboratory
  • RDC or Statistics Canada Research Data Centre at McMaster
  1. Environmental & Earth Sciences Gateway

The candidates in Level I Environmental and Earth Sciences Gateway study program can either pursue the same electives as earlier in Level 1 or change the subject in Level II. 

The candidates can apply for 4 subjects in Level II.

The School of Earth, Environment, & Society has courses that facilitate candidates to achieve their academic requirements to be eligible for the role of Professional Geoscientist through APGO or the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

The Minor in GIS or Geographic Information Systems study program fulfills the academic requirements to become a GISP or GIS Professional facilitated by the GIS Certification Institute.

  1. Health Sciences (BHSc Honors)

The BHSc or Bachelor of Health Sciences study program has an interdisciplinary approach to studying health, illness, and wellness. It offers candidates a comprehensive knowledge of health from behavioral, biological, and population-oriented perspectives.

The BHSc (Honors) study program draws resources for teaching from various departments of:

  • Health Sciences
  • Medicine, Pathology, and Molecular Medicine
