The University of Calgary, U of C, or UCalgary, is a public research university located in Calgary in Alberta province of Canada.
Founded in 1944 as the University of Alberta’s Calgary branch, it became a separate and an autonomous university in 1966 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta.
It houses 14 faculties and more than 85 research institutes and centres. It has five campuses, with the main one is in the northwest quadrant of Calgary close to the Bow River.
