The Université de Montréal (U de M), also known as the University of Montreal, is a public university that imparts education in French in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The university’s main campus is located in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce in the borough of Outremont. It houses thirteen faculties, over sixty departments, and two affiliated schools in the Polytechnique Montréal (School of Engineering; formerly the École Polytechnique de Montréal) and HEC Montréal (School of Business).

Established in 1878 as a satellite campus of the Université Laval, it became an independent institution in 1919. It relocated from Quartier Latin in Montreal to its present location in 1942. More than 650 undergraduate and graduate programs are offered, including 71 doctoral programs.

The main campus of UdeM is spread over 65 hectares of land on Mount Royal’s north-western slope, considered one of the finest urban parks in North America. RESIDENCES OF UNIVERSITY OF MONTREAL

• Available to students of UdeM are on-campus and off-campus housing. At the University of Montreal’s main campus is on-campus housing is reserved for the university’s proper full-time students. For couples, no housing is available due to the constraints of the number of rooms available.
