TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MUNICH (MS PROGRAMS)

The Technical University of Munich, Technische Universität München in German, TUM or TU Munich, is a public university located in Munich, with campuses in Freising, Heilbronn, Garching, and Straubing, and Singapore. As it is a technical university, it focuses on applied sciences, engineering, medicine, natural sciences, and technology. It is divided into eight schools and departments, with 13 research centers.

Since the Technical University of Munich does not charge tuition fees for any of its courses, students only need to pay semester fees, which include a Student Union fee and a Semester ticket, which covers public transportation costs. Foreign nationals comprise more than 50% of the student population. 

The Technical University of Munich has two intakes – one each in Winter and Summer semesters. The admission offers to students depend upon several aspects like scores in GATE or GRE, work experience, scores in language proficiency, and work portfolio. To gain admission to TUM, foreign students must have gotten at least 75% in their qualifying exams.

Technical University of Munich’s acceptance rate is 8%. The university enrolls students via its semester-based admission. However, most of the degree programs only accept new students in the winter semester, and in the summer semester, they accept applications for transfer or higher-semester individuals.

SCHOLARSHIPS FROM TUM 

Complete scholarships are not offered by TUM Graduate School; bridge financing and completion grants are only granted. On the other, doctoral students have the luxury of selecting from various scholarships that external providers like DAAD and other foundations grant. The scholarships in Germany listed below are available directly from the TUM.

The scholarships offered include: International Student Scholarship, Scholarship Deutschlandstipendium, Leonzhard Lorenz Foundation, and Loschge Scholarship, among others. The amounts of these scholarships vary from €500 to over €10,000, with students from low-income families receiving larger amounts.   

Moreover, students can also opt to work to pay for their various expenses. TUM offers more than 3,000 jobs on its job career portal to allow students to select from.
