THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER, UK

The University of Manchester is a public university located in Manchester, England. Founded in 1824 as the Mechanics’ Institute, it got its present name after the University Of Manchester Institute Of Science and Technology (UMIST), a successor of the Mechanics’ Institute, merged with the Victoria University of Manchester.

It has two campuses, with the main one being the South Campus on Oxford Road. The other is on Sackville Street. The University of Manchester has more than 40,000 students of whom 9,000 are foreign nationals.

Aspiring international students should expect to spend about £31,814 to £63,628 to study at the university. Merit and need-based scholarships are offered by the university to help out the students financially. These scholarships range from about £1.060 to £5,310.

To be eligible for admission to the university, international students need to get a GPA of at least 3 out of 4, an equivalent of 83% to 86%. Also taken into consideration for admission would be a statement of purpose (SOP), letters of recommendation (LORs), an IELTS score of about 7, and a minimum GMAT score of 550. For certain programs, students should have professional work experience.

CAMPUSES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER

The university has 229 buildings which are spread over 667 acres. There are 400 student societies in the university that participate in local and global issues. Requirements for Admission: The admission requirement for Indian students at the University of Manchester is a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, a GMAT score of a minimum of 500, more than three years of work experience, and two to three letters of recommendation (LORs).

SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER

The university offers more than 100 merit and need-based scholarships and grants to students.

  • Students below 25 years who hail from underprivileged families are granted £1,000 per year.
  • Outstanding students receive scholarships specific to the subject worth £1,000- £5,000.
  • The university offers an aggregate of £1.7 million by way of scholarships to foreign students. Students of undergraduate and graduate courses are eligible for these scholarships.
  • Around 15 merit-based awards worth £5,000 are accessible to foreign students belonging to South Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
  • The students wanting to apply for master’s education are eligible for scholarships of £6,000 per year. The university awards a total of 80 scholarships every year.

WORK AS YOU STUDY
